✒️ These 10 poems carry a similar melancholic tone, echoing themes of absence, unfulfilled expectation, and longing.

1.       The Forgotten Farewell

"I’ll see you soon," you whispered,
And smiled as you turned away.
Your footsteps faded in the corridor,
And I waited the rest of the day.

"I’ll see you soon," you promised,
Your voice warm, your eyes bright.
The echoes of your words still linger,
But you never returned that night.

"I’ll see you soon," you murmured,
A vow carried by the air.
Yet days have passed like shadows,
And I find you nowhere there.

2.      A Letter Unread

I wrote you a letter on Monday,
Folded neatly with care.
Sealed it with quiet longing,
Sent it into the air.

I waited beside the window,
Imagining your reply,
Tracing the shape of your name,
As hours drifted by.

Days turned into silence,
Nights fell with no sound,
And still the letter lingers,
Unopened, unfound.

3.      The Last Train

The train was leaving at midnight,
You swore you'd be there at ten.
I counted the minutes impatiently,
And waited again, and again.

The whistle blew from the platform,
Steam curled into the air.
Passengers hurried around me -
But you were nowhere there.

The train pulled out from the station,
A promise left behind.
And now I travel alone,
With your absence on my mind.

4.      The Candle Burns Low

You said you’d come at twilight,
Before the stars would gleam.
So I lit a candle in waiting,
And let it share my dream.

The wax dripped slow and silent,
The flame flickered and sighed.
I watched the shadows lengthen,
As time slipped softly by.

The candle has long since melted,
The night is empty and still.
And yet I keep on waiting -
Perhaps I always will.

5.      The Empty Chair

You said you’d join for supper,
A meal just like before.
I set your place in silence,
And left ajar the door.

The soup grew cold in patience,
The bread sat in its tray.
The candle melted lower,
As the hours slipped away.

Now the chair remains abandoned,
A ghost of what was there.
A space that once held laughter,
Now filled with hollow air.

6.      The Rain Kept Falling

You said you’d come when the storm calmed,
When the sky was clear and bright.
I sat by the window watching,
Through the endless stretch of night.

The rain kept falling harder,
Like a whispering, endless tune.
The sky was grey this morning -
And I knew you wouldn’t come soon.

The clouds will part eventually,
The world will shine anew.
But no matter how long I wait here,
I know it won’t bring you.

7.      A Promise Unkept

You promised to meet me at sunrise,
When the world was painted gold.
I sat by the shore in waiting,
But the ocean grew restless and cold.

The waves whispered stories around me,
The seagulls cried into the sky.
But your footsteps never approached me,
And I never learned the reason why.

Now I watch the tides in silence,
As the sun sets in the west.
Perhaps some words are just echoes,
And some promises never rest.

8.      The Clock Still Ticks

You said, “I won’t be long now,”
And smiled before you left.
The air still holds your laughter,
But I am here, bereft.

The clock still ticks its rhythm,
The hours stretch and sigh.
Yet your absence lingers longer,
Than time passing by.

Perhaps I should stop waiting,
And let the memory fade.
But some echoes are forever,
In the silences they’ve made.

9.      The Door Stayed Closed

You knocked once at my window,
Said you’d return at noon.
The morning light has faded,
The evening sky holds the moon.

I waited by the doorway,
Each creak filled me with hope.
But no footsteps climbed my staircase,
No hand turned the knotted rope.

The key still waits within the lock,
The room remains the same.
Yet the air is thick with longing,
And the silence speaks your name.

10.          The Missing Song

You sang a tune one evening,
A melody soft and true.
Said you’d hum it once again,
When the moon shone silver-blue.

But the stars have turned their faces,
And the night wind sings alone.
Your voice is just a memory,
A note lost in the stone.

I play the chords you left me,
Yet the harmony feels wrong.
For no song can be completed,
When the singers truly gone.
